SARS
The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) appeared in November 2002 in China. Between March and July 2003, the virus dramatically spread, reaching 30 countries all over the world and obtaining rapidly the status of "first pandemic of the XXI Century".
Data source
World Health Organization (WHO) collected national daily data from the 17/03/03 to the 11/06/03, data available on its website [http://www.who.int/csr/sars/country/en/]
Objectives
A large number of publications followed the SARS episod. Yet, to our knowledge, none of them provides a geographic perspective of the diffusion phenomenon itself. The two documents below provide then original insights and highlight the exploratory power of animated and interactive cartography.
